Two biofertilizers (Azofert and Natrin) with seed and soil applications were compared with other chemical treatments. All the biofertilizer treatments gave better results in respect of plant stand, plant height, number of tillers and leaves/plant over normal dose of NPK and control. The Azofert biofertilizer, irrespective of application were found to be most effective for growth and development. Azofert was efficient over Natrin, NPK application and no biofertilizers for increasing the size of rhizome and yield. The net returns and benefit: cost ratio was also maximum with Azofert treatment.
