Abstract

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of P on yield and the pattern of its uptake and utilization in onion at different stages of crop growth. The optimum growth and yield of onion can be achieved with the application of 50 kg P2O5/ha. The slight difference noted in Pusa White Flat may be due to genetic variation as it responded significantly up to 75 kg P2O5/ha. The P uptake and utilization pattern of onion suggest that it demands constant supply of P at all stages of growth.
