Abstract

Field experiments were conducted on cowpea cv. Arka Garima at CARI, Port Blair during 1998–99 and 1999–2000 to study the response of vegetable cowpea to P, K and Rhizobium inoculation. The results revealed that application of 80 kg P2O5, 120 kg K2O and 20 kg N/ha + Rhizobium inoculation produced maximum yield of green pods (114.09) q/ha). The length of root, fresh weight of shell and length/pod were maximum with 120 kg P, 120 kg K and 20 kg N/ha + Rhizobium inoculation, whereas number of pods/plant was maximum under 80 kg P, 60 kg K and 20 kg N/ha + Rhizobium inoculation.
