Abstract

The extent of genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance as per cent of mean in respect of 19 quantitative characters in 30 germplasm of strawberry was studied. There was high phenotypic (46.01%) and genotypic coefficient of variation (45.98%) for number of fruits/plant followed by number of runners/plant, fruit weight and length of leaf petiole, indicating the extent of variability based on these characters. High heritability and genetic advance as per cent of mean was observed for number of fruits/plant and fruit weight which ranged from 3.20 to 18.76 and 1.46 to 8.83 g respectively, showing high heritability (99.90%) coupled with high genetic advance as per cent of mean.
