A trial was conducted with tomato lines at 4 levels of K in order to ascertain the best lines based on the selection differential and component analysis of characters. Based on phenotypic/genotypic correlation, path analysis and Elston's weight free index, Baker's Standard Deviation and Component analysis, the characters that affect the yield were size, weight of single fruit and number of fruits. The effects of K on these characters were significant but the factor loadings indicate that K affected all the yield components uniformly. Based on the multivariate analysis, the best parents for size, average fruit weight and number of fruits/plant were 37 R, 37 P and DL.
