Abstract

The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of different planting time on yield, quality, shelf-life and post-harvest diseases of banana cv. Martaman. Earliest shooting, minimum days for harvesting and maximum bunch weight were recorded in February planting. Significant effect on fingers/bunch and fruit weight were also recorded. Fruits harvesting from June planting recorded maximum pulp weight, peel weight and pulp/peel ratio. February planting resulted in high TSS and low acidity. Fruits from October planting had maximum shelf-life, reduced intensity of post-harvest diseases, i.e. anthracnose and fruit rot.
