The present study on the dynamics of shoot growth revealed that the pattern of shoot growth in lemon showed a sigmoid curve. The different growth flushes failed to have any significant effect on shoot growth and number of leaves/shoots, However, total chlorophyll content of leaf was markedly affected with spring flush having higher level than that of other flushes. Age and types of shoots had marked effect on shoot growth, total number of leaves and total chlorophyll content, which increased in the initial stage and later either slowed down or decreased. Lateral shoots had an edge over terminal shoots in all the parameters. Shoot growth of different flushes that represent lateral growth of plant, which generally remain faster immediately after their emergence in different flushes up to 2–3 months revealed that relevant cultural operations have to be carried out properly to support better growth of plants.
