An experiment was conducted to estimate in-vivo phenol contents in some grape genotypes at monthly interval on post-shoot sprouting and its effect on in-vitro culture establishment. Wide variability was noticed with regard to phenol content in shoot tips and nodal segments among seven genotypes. Nodal segment was found superior over shoot tip and the best time for culture establishment was mid-April. Of the three pre-treatments employed for minimizing in-vitro phenol exudation, best method was nodal segment collected during mid-April receiving agitation in anti-oxidant solution. This treatment gave highest success in Pusa Navrang (49.3%), while 76-1 (29.7%) registered minimum.
