Abstract

The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of N and P along with fixed K levels on pineapple [Ananas Comosus (L.) Merr.] cv. Queen with a plant density of 53,00O/ha. Four levels of N (0, 8, 10, 12 g/plant) and 2 levels of P (3) (6 g/plant) were compared. No. application of N and P served as the control. Levels of N significant influenced leaf number, days taken for flowering, length and weight of fruits, ascorbic acid content and yield. There was no response of P and K. The N content of D leaf increased with increasing levels of N and K contents of leaves also showed gradual increase with increase in N level. Increasing level of N and P did not show any significant effect on P level of D leaf. The optimum dose of N and P did not show any significant effect on P level of D leaf. The optimum dose of N and P under rainfed conditions of Andamans is 10 g N and 3 g P/plant/year. It is indicated that cultivar Queen has got a good prospects for commercial cultivation in Andamans.
