Abstract

Combining ability effects were estimated for six characters in 4 lines × 6 testers crossing programme for cauliflower. Significant variances were observed for lines, testers and line × tester for all the traits except leaf size index for line × tester. Female parents Cauliflower No. 1, RSK 1301 and male parents CC 2, CC 3 showed high general combining ability for earliness. Kt 25 was found to be a good general combiner for all the traits except days to 50% curd maturity. High sca effects for yield and other traits were showed by the cross combinations, Cauliflower No. I × Janavon, PSB 1 × Janavon and RSK 1301 × Lawyna.
