Efficacy of paclobutrazol and thiourea when applied alone as soil drench, spray or in combination during dry and wet seasons for inducing maximum suckering in pineapple without any damage to plant growth and fruit quality was tested out at Central Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, India. Pacloburazol 50 mg/litre and thiourea 250 mg/litre was found to produce maximum number of suckers per plant (3.86 in rainy season and 4.06 in dry season) of required size and quality in least days (21.7 in rainy season and 19.33 in dry season) when compared with other treatments and control. Paclobutrazol when applied alone produced few suckers of compact and stumpy shape, which at a later stage however recovered their normal shape.
