Abstract

Among the elite chilli varieties tested in the farmers' fields, MI -2 from Sri Lanka found most stable variety in South India conditions and preferred by the farmers for its good yield potential, earliness and acceptable, fruit type in the market. Therefore, MI-2 may be recommended under irrigated conditions as vegetable and popularized by producing sufficient seed quantity. Its potential may be further exploited in the chilli-breeding program.
