An experiment was conducted to observe the effect of light, moderate and severe pruning intensities on light interception/photosynthetic rate and change in canopy micro-climate in mango cv. Amrapali planted under high density concept. The data from two years (1999–2000 and 2000–2001) trial revealed that for photosynthetic rate and yield under moderate pruning treatment (20 cm from apex) responded better, however, for the other parameters, the response of severe pruning was optimum. In general, the moderate pruning was found best to maintain the optimum metabolic activities in the plants under high density planting.
