To standardize the optimum sowing time of bittergourd for off-season production in an unheated polyhouse, 6 sowing dates viz., September 16, October 1, 15, 29 and November 12 and 26 were evaluated for two years under Tarai conditions of Pantnagar. Based on the observations on time taken for seed germination, plant growth, maturity, fruiting behaviour and yield, sowing around mid September is recommended.
