Abstract

Growth, yield and quality of acid lime on 19 stionic combinations under central Indian conditions were studied. The dwarfing effect on growth was recorded in acid lime budded on strain of Cleopatra mandarin (Coorg) rootstock. The acid lime seedling, Schaub rough lemon, Troyer citrange (Chethalli), Chase rough lemon and Cleopatra mandarin (Texas) were the vigorous rootstocks. The highest cumulative fruit yield and weight basis were recorded on Alemow (Citrus macrophylla) rootstocks followed by Troyer citrange (Chethalli). The less number of seeds (1.92 seeds/fruit) was recorded in the fruit harvested from plants on Chase rough lemon, while fruits on acid lime seedling rootstock produced maximum (10–35 seeds/fruit). The average fruit weight was higher (33.44 g/fruit) with Schaub rough lemon. Other quality parameters did not varied much with rootstocks. Thus it appears that the different rootstocks better performance in comparison to acid lime on its own roots in respect of fruit yield and quality.
