Abstract

On the basis of two years evaluation studies, it can be concluded that Corel la and Fern cultivars are suitable for early planting and fresh fruit marketing, while Chandler may do better among late cultivars. Chandler may also do better as a dual purpose (suitable for fresh consumption and processing) cultivar owing to its more uniform fruit size during peak fruiting period, higher content of pulp, anthocyanin and dry matter in fruits. Cultivars like Dana and Selva gave highest juice recovery but due to their poor agronomical performance, these may not be recommended for cultivation under semi-arid irrigated region of Punjab.
