In order to extend the marketing period of fresh shelled peas, Pb-88, the most popular variety was stored under ambient and refrigerated conditions. The stored samples were evaluated for different quality parameters at regular sampling intervals. The shelled peas were packed in HDPE bags of different gauges (100, 200 and 300). On the basis of experimental results and statistical analysis, it was observed that 100 gauge high density polyethylene bags resulted in minimum changes in the quality parameters in comparison to 200 and 300 gauge thus extending the shelf-life of shelled peas up to 40 days and 10 days under refrigerated and ambient conditions, respectively.
