Abstract

The pomegranate plants, growing under sub-tropical conditions undergo bud dormancy during winter. There are fluctuations (in vivo) in the growth promoters (IAA ad GA) and inhibitor (ABA) levels, which are associated with control of bud break. Studies conducted on five pomegranate genotypes suggested that higher ABA levels existed in the dormant bud in the completely deciduous genotypes. The levels of IAA and GA were found to be low during dormancy.
