The guava fruits were irradiated with different doses of gamma radiation for extending their shelf-life and for stabilizing the market demand. Irradiation of guava fruits with 100 Gy gamma radiation increased the post harvest life (100 %) of guava fruits by 8 days over control (61.26 %) and higher doses of gamma radiation without affecting fruit quality as evidenced by colour, aroma and taste. Higher doses of irradiation (>100 Gy) exhibited brownish spots after 4 days of storage on surface of the fruits.
