Abstract

This investigation on genetic variability including mean, genotypic and phenotypic variances, coefficients of variation, heritability, genetic advance and genetic gain was conducted with 22 genotypes of capsicum under mid hills of Uttaranchal. Significant differences among the genotypes for all the characters were noted. The cultivars Pepper Peprika, Sel. 1–2 and Sel. 1–3 were promising having more than one desirable traits. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation, heritability and genetic gain were observed for ascorbic acid content, number of fruit/plant, fruit yield/plant, seed yield/fruit and fruit length.
