Abstract

The post-harvest treatment with calcium compounds namely calcium chloride and calcium nitrate on storage life of four aonla cultivars were evaluated. The self-life of aonla fruits was enhanced as indicated by pattern of less physiological loss in weight, increase in TSS, total soluble solids and ascorbic acid content. The one per cent calcium nitrate solution was judged as the most effective post-harvest storage solution in all the cultivars helped in increasing the quality of the aonla fruits during storage even after 21 days of harvest. Among the cultivars, NA-7 had the best post-harvest life when treated fruit with 1 % calcium nitrate solution.
