Abstract

Fig germplasm of Hamirpur district was surveyed and evaluated for existence of variability in different traits. High variability was found for fruit weight, yield and leaf size. On the basis of different traits, the population has been categorized into three strains from small large fruited types. Small fruited strains reported to have short fruit ripening period, whereas large fruited ones had longer fruit ripening period. Average fruit weight and yield observed for the strains were 11.6, 21.0, 36.8 g and 11.0,19.4, 37.6 kg/tree respectively. The TSS ranged from 16.6 to 22.4° Brix.
