Abstract

Three fungicides namely, bayleton 25 WP (0.05%), karathane 48 EC (0.01%) and sulfex 80 WP (0.25%) were applied during flowering, after fruit set and first week of November to the 20-year-old berplants cv. Umran for the control of powdery mildew (Oidium erysiphoides f. sp zizyphi Yen and Wang). The studies of six consecutive cropping seasons from 1995–96 to 2001–02 showed the superiority of bayleton in managing the disease effectively. Bayleton significantly checked the disease, reduced the fruit drop and increased the fruit yield. Bayleton sprays are more economical and gave higher cost-benefit ratio as compared to karathane and sulfex. The fungicidal sprays also improve the quality of ber fruit.
