The fasciculated roots of four genotypes of Safed musli (Chlorophytum borivilianum Sant. and Fer.) were evaluated for their storage behaviour. Four improved genotypes (CBI-2, CBI-5, CBI-12 and CBI-3) harvested in the month of December were stored for six months in corrugated fibre board (CFB) boxes using sand as a medium. Various parameters like weight loss, fresh root recovery, spoilage loss, dry matter recovery and moisture content were recorded. The minimum weight loss was recorded in CBI-2 (31.83%) followed by CBI-5 (37.00%). However, the fresh root recovery (53.17 to 57.02%) was higher in both the genotypes. The spoilage loss was found to be minimum in CBI-5. Interestingly, CBI-2 showed better storability than other genotypes.
