Micropropagation of carnation cv. Lipstick was tried using shoot-tip of greenhouse raised plants and nodal segment of in vitro raised shoots by culturing them on MS medium supplemented with various growth regulators. High rate of multiplication of shoot tip was recorded in the medium containing basal MS salts supplemented with 0.5 mg l−1 NAA, 1.5 mg l−1 kinetin and 0.5 mg l−1 GA3 while that of nodal segment on MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg l−1 NAA, 0.5 mg l−1 kinetin and 0.5 mg l−1 GA3. The best rooting of the microshoots was obtained on MS medium with 0.5 mg l−1 IBA. The rooted plantlets were transferred to the ambient condition using different substrates. Vermiculite recorded a high survival percentage of 90% while the lowest was recorded in the substrate soil. The hardened plantlets were finally planted in beds inside greenhouse.
