Abstract

The effect of bio-fertilizer along with inorganic fertilizer on growth and productivity of guava cv. L-49 was studied. Experimental findings revealed that different treatments of bio-fertilizers and inorganic fertilizer significantly increased the plant height and spread. Azospirillium + VAM inoculation along with 100% N + 100% P2P5 showed maximum plant height and spread while control recorded minimum. Inoculation of Azospirillium and VAM along with inorganic fertilizers also proved effective in increasing the total soluble solid, total sugar and ascorbic acid content of fruits while acid content declined through the inoculation of bio-fertilizers. The treatment maximized the biochemical constituents of fruits over control and inorganic fertilizer alone. Therefore, it is suggested to incorporate the bio-fertilizers, namely, Azospirillium and VAM along with inorganic fertilizers under integrated nutrient management systems of guava plantation for achieving better yield and quality fruits.
