Abstract

An experiment was conducted on 29 grape genotypes of diverse origin for various health promoting compounds for two seasons (2018 and 2019). The content of bioactive compound varied significantly for total monomeric anthocyanins (37.54 to 863.97 mg/kg in coloured genotypes), total phenolics (57.13 to 339.07 μg/ml GAE), total flavonoids (68.80 to 209.87 mg QE/g fw), DDPH (2.72 to 11.54 μg TE/g fw), CUPRAC (3.82 to 43.73 μg TE/g fw) and FRAP (1.28 to 14.12 μg TE/g fw) activity. ‘Black Prince’ was found most promising in terms of higher amount of total phenolics, CUPRAC and FRAP antioxidant activities; ‘Pusa Navrang’ for total monomeric anthocyanins and ‘Punjab Purple’ and ‘Centennial Seedless’ ‘for total flavonoid and DPPH antioxidant activity. The information will be useful in future for development of phytochemical rich grape varieties.
