Abstract

India has always been a peace loving nation. The First and the Second World War saw the evil effects of the arms, ammunition and weapons. Despite this, there were nations which believed in the proliferation of weapons to make themselves more powerful and prove their supremacy and hegemony over the small nations. Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and his close associate V.K Krishna Menon tried to make the world understand the benefits of following the policy of disarmament. Krishna Menon strongly raised this issue in the United Nations. He wanted the world to be absolutely free of weapons of any kind. His hard work and perseverance made the super powers come together and talk about total disarmament.
