Abstract

This study was conducted to find out whether there are differences in type A behavior pattern between hypertensives and normotensives. From a small community sample of adults from Noida, 20 individuals having hypertension and having clinic Blood Pressure (BP)> or 140/90 mm hg were selected and compared with a sex and age matched group of 20 individuals with normotensives on measures of type A behavior pattern derived from standardized questionnaire. Results of independent t test revealed significant differences between hypertensives and normotensives and were in line with the hypothesis. The null hypotheses stand rejected and hypertensive patients were found to be significantly higher on type A behavior pattern than normotensives.
