This study was conducted to find out the difference in achievement motivation and test anxiety between orphan and non-orphan addesents. Sample: 120 adolescents of age 16 to 19, years 60 orphans (30 boys and 30 girls) and 60 nonorphans (30 boys and 30 girls) from various orphanages and schools of Thrissur District. Simple Random Sampling and Quota Sampling method were used for selection of samples. The measures used in the study were Westside Test Anxiety Scale (Richard Driscoll, 2004) and Achievement Motivation Test (V.P. Bhargava, 1994). The statistical test used were descriptive statistics like mean and standard deviation, Student ‘t ’test. Orphan and Non-Orphan adolescents difference in their Achievement Motivation at 0.05 level. But no significant difference was found in Test Anxiety. There was also gender wise difference between non-orphan adolescents in their achievement motivation at 0.01 level. But there was no gender wise difference between orphan adolescents in their Achievement Motivation and Test anxiety. The implications and the limitations of the study are also narrated.
