Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the predictors of self esteem. Sample of 200 adolescents was taken with equal number of males and females in the age group of 14–19 years. The participants were subjected to Rosenberg self esteem scale, Family environment scale and Neo-five factor inventory. Results of step wise regression analysis state that extraversion i.e. dimension of personality and conflict i.e. relationship dimension of family environment were significant predictors of self esteem in female adolescents whereas neuroticism i.e. dimension of personality trait and expressiveness i.e. relationship dimension of family environment were significant predictors of self esteem in male adolescents.
