Abstract

The present study is aimed to investigate secondary trauma and professional quality of life among prtrnary caregivers. The sample included 30 professionals and para-professionals (Primary caregivers) who work directly with institutionalised children. Self-reported version of Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale (Figley, 2004) and ProQOL (Stamm, 2010) were used as data collection tool. In order to find the role of secondary trauma in explaining professional quality of life, Pearson Product Moment of Correlation was employed to assess the relationship between two constructs. Consistent with the hypotheses, the results reveal a strong relationship between secondary trauma and professional quality of life among primary caregivers practising in institutionalised homes.
