The Present study was conducted to examine the relationship between parenting styles and adjustment among adolescents. 100 undergraduate female students of M.M.V. College Kanpur (50 Adolescents were from rural location while the rest 50 were from urban background) randomly selected constituted the sample. The age range of the participants was 17 years to 20 years. All the respondents were matched on age, sex, educational and socio-economic level. Parent Child Relation Scale (PCR) (Rittman) and Bell Adjustment Inventory (Mohsin and Shamshad) were used. Pearson's product moment correlation method, mean, S.D. and ‘t ’test were applied. Authoritative parenting style and permissive parenting styles were found to be significantly correlated with Health adjustment. Non significant correlation were found between all measures of adjustment and all three types of parenting style i.e. authoritarian, authoritative and permissive. The urban and rural groups differed significantly in authoritarian parenting style and two measure of adjustment i.e. (Health, emotional).
