Abstract

This study aimed at finding the difference in self-esteem and psychological wellbeing in transgender people and common heterosexuals. The sample size comprised of 60 participants, out of this 30 transgender people and 30 common heterosexuals within age group of 20–50 from different socio economic background were studied. Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES) and Ryff's psychological wellbeing scale (RPWB) were used to collect data. The statistical analysis included Student‘t’ test, and correlational analysis. The result shows transgender people have significantly low self-esteem and psychological wellbeing. The findings may help the society, to have a better understanding about the issues faced by transgender people and provide adequate support, and also to accept the people as they are, being transgender is not a crime and how to handle them with respect.
