This study was done to measure self concept among undergraduate students (Boys and girls) of Darbhanga, Bihar by administering the Kuhn and McPartland test having twenty-statements. Responses were analyzed in five categories (Social Identity, ideological beliefs, interests, ambitions, and self-evaluations) and 18 subcategories of self-concepts (Self-identity, Role identity, Group identity, Gender role identity, Caste identity, Class identity, God, Life, Cosmos, Likes, Dislikes, Self-ambitions, Social ambitions, Self-worth, Physical attributes, Psychological, attributes, Negative states and Positive states). Results showed differential use of self-categories in the boys and girls. Boys made more group identity statements and girls made more self and gender role statements. Gender effects were also noted on seven subcategories of self-concept.
