The purpose of this study was to explore the personality traits of married Indian couples and find out the gender difference in their personality traits. A sample of 30 married couples was selected from the Barabanki district. The researcher personally met the participants and administered the tool. The Indian adaptation of Big Five Personality Inventory (John & Srivastava, 1999) was used. Mean, SD and t-ratios were computed to analyze the data. The findings showed that there was no significant gender difference in personality traits of married males and females on the 4 dimensions of the personality. However, a significant difference was found on the dimension of Neuroticism (t=2.82>0.01 level). The results can be helpful in improving the relationship of married couples by applying an intervention plan.
