Gender differences in anxiety and marital adjustment: A comparison of public and private sector bank employees

This study was conducted to measure anxiety and marital adjustment among male and female employees working in public and private sector banks. The sample was constituted using stratified random sampling technique and the two groups were matched on socioeconomic and educational variables. In all, 100 employees participated in the study. Job Anxiety Scale (Srivastav, 1977) and Marital Adjustment Scale (Singh, 1972) were used to assess the tapped variables and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings revealed that female private bank employees possess higher level of marital adjustment than male bank employee, whereas anxiety level was found to be higher in female employees than male bank employees. Results are discussed and implications are highlighted.
