Efficacy of Milard's Procedure for Primary Cleft Lip Repair Along With Nasal Deformity – A Prospective Study

Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the outcome of Millard's procedure for primary cleft lip repair along with nasal deformity.

This study was conducted on 20 patients with unilateral cleft lip who reported in department of oral and maxillofacial surgery from 2009 to 2011. All the patients with cleft lip who were in the age range of 6 months to one and half year were included in this study. The Millard's technique was used in all patients. Post operative course was recorded and any complication occurred were noted.

out of 20 patients 2 patients had wound infection. The degree of contracture 3 months postoperatively was mild in 12 patients and moderate in 8 patients which were reduced to mild in 1 patient and no contracture in 19 patients 1 year postoperatively.

The Millard's procedure for repair of cleft lip along with nose has very good and promising results.
