Cypermethrin is a lethal and potent poisonous insecticide (pyrethroids) commonly used to kill cockroaches and other insect in the kitchen. These are easily available to the public worldwide and the incidence of consumption has increased dramatically for suicidal attempts in the developing countries like India and Nepal in the recent times1,2. Cypermethrin is a neurotoxic synthetic pyrethroid used as an insecticide in large-scale commercial agricultural applications as well as in consumer products for domestic purposes and are known to be one of the commonly used highly toxic agricultural pesticides of the societies. It was first synthesized in 1974 and is non-systematic insecticide with contact and stomach action. Availability of information about the toxicological profile of such pesticides to the public may increase their concern about the use of pesticides, in order to minimize the release of these harmful substances into the environment and human exposure.
