Abstract

Plantar fasciitis represents the fourth most common injury to the lower limb. Plantar fasciitis refers to the syndrome of acute inflammation of plantar fascia. The use of preventative measures and early recognition of danger signals are critical in the avoidance of this problem. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of Low Dye (LD) taping in patients with plantar fasciitis on gait parameters such as Step length, Stride length, Walking velocity, Time and Cadence. This was done by dividing subjects in 2 groups with 30 subjects in each group, under treatment for 10 days. Control group (Group A) was given treatment with ultra sound, calf muscle and plantar fascia stretching, while experimental group (Group B) was treated with the above mentioned treatment along with Low Dye taping. Gait parameters were tested by the 10 meter walk way test in normal speed prior to the treatment on Day 1 and after the treatment on day 10. On comparison of pre and post treatment of control group showed significant improvement in Step Length, Stride Length and Time of 10 meter walking. While in the experimental group significant improvement was noticed in all the gait parameters except cadence. While between group analysis showed that there was no significant difference between both the groups in all the gait parameters. In conclusion, Low dye taping has not shown any additional effect on gait parameters while comparing it with other treatment in patients with Plantar fascia.
