Abstract

Body abnormalities or defects not only compromise appearance or function, they can make an individual incapable of leading a normal life. Therefore, to restore such patients to a state of acceptable normalcy is of utmost importance. Various materials have evolved to replace these missing tissues; the goal has been to resemble the host tissue as close as possible both in function and in appearance. However, all materials come with their own advantages and disadvantages and no ideal material has evolved to date. Hence this review article discusses the color and color stability and discoloration of the available commercially maxillofacial materials.
