Histopathological Spectrum of Lesion in Hysterectomy Specimens: A Prospective Study of 100 Cases

Abstract

Hysterectomy is the most commonly performed gynaecological surgery throughout the world. This study was carried out to find out the common pathologies in hysterectomy specimen. A prospective study of total 100 hysterectomy specimens was carried out in the Department of Pathology, FMHS, SGT University. Commonest indication for hysterectomy was leiomyoma (47%) followed by Dysfunction Uterine Bleeding (22%). The commonest indication & histopathological finding in our setting was leiomyoma. The pathological examination confirmed the diagnosis in majority of the cases.
