Flowcytometry: A Promising Diagnostic tool for Clinical Microbiology

Flowcytometry is a technique for rapid multiparametric correlated analysis of cells. Role of flowcytometry is increasingly recognized in the present era of automation due to its versatility and broad range of applications in the field of clinical microbiology, haematology and immunology. In the clinical microbiology, it opened new avenues in the detection of slow growing microorganisms within a short span of time and performance of antimicrobial susceptibility tests without the need of culture and identification of organisms.
