Abstract

A variety of procedures can be used to reconstruct the alveolar ridge. Their indications for surgery are based on remaining ridge height, contour, the adequacy of fixed soft tissue base and sulcus depth. Ridge augmentation procedures are indicated when hard and soft tissue deficiencies significantly compromise conventional Prosthodontic treatment. After the need for a ridge augmentation has been determined, the grafting technique depends on the amount of remaining residual alveolar bone. This article presents a brief overview of ridge augmentation procedures in edentulous patients
