Abstract

Compliance of removable appliances in orthodontics is an important key to achieving successful treatment outcome. It can be assessed subjectively and objectively. Microsensors are the new invent to assess compliance objectively. This article describes smart retainer and Thermon sensor. It can be concluded that Theramon® and Smart Retainer® have met the basic requirements for objectively measuring wear times in routine orthodontic treatment. Incorporation of microsensor will definitey improve the patient compliance and treatment outcome of removable appliances.
