Abstract

Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is the most common neuropathy in industrialized countries, and it is associated with a wide range of clinical manifestations.

To evaluate and compare the effect of Kinesio Taping and Nerve Flossing Technique on balance, gait, and ankle flexibility of diabetic neuropathy patients.

It was a prospective study in which 20 subjects of diabetic neuropathy were conveniently included into the study from hospital setting and divided into two groups, Kinesio Taping (KT) and Nerve Flossing Technique (NFT). Treatment was given for 3 days a week for 2 weeks to both groups for improving the balance, gait and ankle flexibility of the subjects and data was collected and analysed.

Treatment groups included two techniques, Kinesio Taping (KT) (n= 10) and Nerve Flossing Technique (NFT) (n= 10). Outcome measured were taken with POMA score for balance and gait, and universal goniometer was used for taking ROM of ankle. The result showed Group A improved in POMA and Group B was better in ROM of ankle joint in 2 weeks of treatment.

KT is better than NFT in improving Balance and gait, and NFT is better in improving the ankle Range of Motion than KT in diabetic neuropathic patients.
