The prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders complaints in women is high which ranges between 11%-60%. The most affected regions have been lower back (60%) and shoulder (42%). Physical activity has the potential to postpone or prevent prevalent musculoskeletal disorders, such as mechanical low back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and osteoporosis and related fractures.
The present research was undertaken to investigate the awareness on the role of physical activity in prevention of Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD) among women (age group 20–50 years). The purpose of this study was to identify physical activity levels, types and frequency of exercise performed regularly.
A self-administered questionnaire was prepared and disseminated to women. Questionnaire consisted of 12 questions was given through online communication system with attached link 100 women (age group-20-50 years) took part in the survey.
The percentage of awareness of women on WRMSD is 59% and 85%women think that physical activity can prevent the WRMSD.80% women are doing physical activity regularly.
The study concluded fair to good awareness in women regarding the role of physical activity in prevention of WRMSD. So, it is necessary and essential not only to make women aware about WRMSD but also give them proper fitness protocol which has potential to postpone or prevent WRMSD.
