Hamstring tightness is caused when a person is not able to do the full extension of knee with hip flexion {90 degrees}, if the person feel discomfort on post. thigh than it's due to tightness found in hamstring muscle. The hamstrings muscle is made of three large muscles, named as biceps femoris, semi-tendinous and semi-membranous which originates from the infero-medial impression on the upper part of the Ischial tuberosity and insert on the upperparts of posterior surface of tibia.
To find the prevalence and severity of hamstring muscle tightness among the population of two-wheeler riders and assess its association with Low back pain.
Across sectional study was done amongst 50 two-wheeler riders in Delhi. The technique used for this research to determine hamstring flexibility is PKEA test. Data analysis was carried out to find the end result.
Out of 50 respondents, the study decided, 74% had hamstring muscle tightness and 26% did not had tightness, 50% of two-wheeler riders complained of LBP at the time of questionnaires filling and 50% did not filled about having LBP. Severity of hamstring tightness came on the more perspective between the angle of 30O -50o.
This study shows high quantity of incidence of hamstring muscle tightness (76%) in the population of two wheeler riders. Severity of hamstring muscle tightness is found high at perspective among 30O-50o and there is some statistically proven association among hamstring muscle tightness and low back, ache with p-value 0.707.
