Pain was measured by using visual analog scale (VAS) and function by Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC).
Four articles with 400 patients were included. The result showed statistically significant reduction in pain (VAS) in the NEMEX group as compared to the other group Z=.64, p=0.03, I2=79%. No significant reduction in WOMAC scores Z=0.70, P=0.64.
There was statistically significant improvement in the pain (VAS) but no functional improvement (WOMAC) was seen in the patients with knee OA with the NEMEX whether used in combination with other interventions or in isolation. However, large number of studies is required to generalise the effectiveness of NEMEX in knee osteoarthritis. This study was registered at the PROSPERO 2020 CRD42020173499.
