Headache is commonly experienced by almost every age group where primary headache disorders, especially migraine and tension-type headache (TTH), are among the most common and burdensome health problems. Disability is defined as the inability to work and function during a disease process. Headaches can result in significant disabilities by affecting daily lives, their functional performance, and their relationships with family members and friends. So good information on their prevalence and related disability is needed for better diagnosis and intervention.
To find prevalence of headache, correlation of migraine headache with disability and correlation of Tension Type headache with disability among college students in Ahmedabad.
A data of 249 college students of Ahmedabad was collected through google form survey. Their age ranged between 18–25 years of both genders. A Headache screening questionnaire was filled by the students and result was established according to the criteria of International Headache Society. Headache disability inventory was filled to determine disability related to headache.
The overall prevalence of headache was found to be 177/249 data. The prevalence of Tension Type headache and Migraine was 49.79% and 21.28% respectively; and its correlation with disability was found to be weak positive correlation (r= 0.226, p=<0.05) and moderately positive correlation (r= 0.535, p=<0.05) respectively.
The study revealed an overall prevalence of primary headache disorders among college students to the tune of 177 from 249 populations. A Weak positive correlation was found between migraine and disability whereas moderately positive correlation was found between Tension type Headache and Disability.
